Here’s a tip:

Miami and then Bahamas makes a great two centre holiday, with the flight between being just an hour long. Flights to the smaller islands and airports are also available from Miami so you can get off Nassau and live like a local.

Over 700 islands and cays set in perfect clear blue sea The Bahamas are a mecca for water sports with great diving options including wrecks and undersea caves. Deep sea sport fishing is pretty much the national past time and there are a huge number of vessels that will take you out for the day.

Swim with the famous wild pigs in Exuma – how they got there no one know but the island is uninhabited, and they are certainly not indigenous! Legend has it sailors left them on the island with intention to call back in for a BBQ o the way home – but never returned. To maybe they swam from one of the many wrecks that scatter the coastline? However, they arrived there are now over 20 pigs and piglets on the island – all of whom know approaching boats mean food and will enthusiastically swim out!

Pigs aside the island has a great selection of accommodation options – there’s the Atlantis hotel with its family friendly waterparks and huge choice of dining options, The Ocean Club, a celebrity favourite which featured heavily in the Casino Royale film made famous by 007.

When to go: The weather is generally reliable year-round in the Bahamas, cooler over our winter and warmer with more humidity over the summer months.
